Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 2026-05-16
AnglingAI's outputs (chat answers, risk assessments, session plans, fish identification, disease screening, weather and tide reads, venue research, lake maps, and generated copy) are guidance only. They are intended to help you, not to replace your own judgement, qualified professionals, or official sources. We do not accept any responsibility for accidents, injuries, fish welfare outcomes, regulatory breaches or losses arising from your use of AnglingAI.
1. Who we are
AnglingAI is operated by the team behind ClubNest and Cast for Life ("we", "us", "our"). You can reach us at [email protected]. By creating an account or using the AnglingAI website or API, you agree to these Terms.
2. What AnglingAI is — and what it isn't
AnglingAI is a software product that uses third-party large language models (such as those provided by OpenAI, Anthropic and Google) and other tools to generate angling-related content, identify content in photos, and produce structured documents.
Outputs are produced by AI and can be incorrect, incomplete, out-of-date or unsafe. You must never rely on an AnglingAI output as a sole source of truth for safety, legal compliance, fish welfare, environmental regulation, or financial decisions.
3. Risk assessments & safety guidance
The risk-assessment, session-plan and similar tools produce draft documents to help you start your own process. They are not a complete, signed-off, legally-binding risk assessment, and they are not a substitute for:
- A qualified, on-site assessor or coach;
- Angling Trust coaching qualifications and best practice;
- Your club's, fishery's, or insurer's own policies and procedures;
- Health-and-safety law that applies to your activity;
- The Environment Agency's rules including rod licence requirements and close seasons.
You must review, edit, sign and approve any risk assessment or session plan you intend to rely on, and you must do so as a competent person familiar with the venue and the participants. We accept no liability for accidents, injuries, drownings, hook injuries, weather-related incidents, fish-welfare outcomes, equipment loss, or regulatory breaches arising from use of our outputs.
4. Fish identification & disease screening
Fish identification and disease/health screening are probabilistic. Outputs include a confidence score; a high score still does not guarantee correctness. They are not a veterinary diagnosis, fishery-management decision tool, or official record of catch.
For suspected notifiable diseases (e.g. KHV, SVC) you must contact the UK Fish Health Inspectorate at CEFAS and the Environment Agency directly. Do not rely on AnglingAI to make that judgement.
5. Weather, tides & venue information
Weather and tide information is sourced from third-party providers (currently Open-Meteo) and reformatted for angling context. Conditions change rapidly. Do not rely on AnglingAI for navigational, life-safety, or sea-going decisions. Always cross-check with the Met Office, RNLI, UKHO EasyTide or other official sources before going on or near the water.
Venue research is generated from publicly available information and AI inference. Day-ticket prices, rules, opening hours, and species lists may be inaccurate or outdated. Always confirm directly with the venue before travelling or fishing.
6. Your account and API keys
You are responsible for keeping your password and API keys confidential. You must not share keys publicly (including in client-side code, public repositories, or screenshots). You are responsible for all activity carried out under your account or keys.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service, breach these Terms, attempt to circumvent quotas, generate illegal content, harass others, or attempt to scrape, reverse engineer or stress-test the system.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to use AnglingAI to:
- Plan or carry out illegal fishing activity, including in close season on rivers in England & Wales (15 March – 15 June) or without a valid Environment Agency rod licence;
- Target, kill or remove protected species or undersized fish contrary to law;
- Generate content that defames, harasses, or impersonates others;
- Generate content that is sexual, hateful, or otherwise prohibited by our underlying AI providers' usage policies;
- Resell raw AnglingAI API access at scale without a written agreement;
- Train competing AI models on our outputs.
8. Pricing, billing & the 50% pledge
Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually in GBP. Quotas reset on the 1st of each calendar month (UTC). You can cancel any time from your dashboard; access continues until the end of the paid period.
We commit to donating 50% of net subscription revenue (after payment-processor fees, hosting, and AI provider costs) to projects that grow junior angling participation. We publish a quarterly report; this commitment is not a charitable trust and creates no individual contractual right to a share of donations.
9. Intellectual property
You retain ownership of any input you provide. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, you may use AnglingAI outputs for any lawful purpose (commercial or personal) for your club, business or personal use, including publication on websites, newsletters, social media, and printed materials.
The AnglingAI software, brand, and underlying prompts remain our intellectual property. You may not copy, reverse engineer or redistribute them.
10. Third-party AI providers
When you use AnglingAI, your prompts and uploaded images may be processed by third-party AI providers (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic, Google). These providers have their own data processing terms and may briefly retain data to provide the service and detect abuse. We use API plans that are not used to train third-party models by default; however we cannot guarantee their behaviour. Do not submit confidential personal data, secrets, or identifying information about minors.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, AnglingAI, its operators, contributors, and partners (including our sister projects ClubNest and Cast for Life) are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or fishing tackle, arising from or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the service.
Where liability cannot be excluded by law, our total aggregate liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or £100, whichever is greater.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded by English law.
12. No warranty
AnglingAI is provided "as is". We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, accurate, complete, secure, or fit for any particular purpose. AI outputs vary in quality and may contain factual errors ("hallucinations").
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top will change. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. If a change materially reduces your rights we will email registered users.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of AnglingAI.
